ABOUT
Haslemere is a small Market Town in the United Kingdom on the borders of Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, roughly half way between London and Portsmouth.

Haslemere Hens 2022, is the successor to Haslemere Hogs 2017, Haslemere Hares 2018 and Haslemere Hounds 2019. This highly successful Community Arts project was forced into hibernation by the cursed Covid, which didn't even have the decency to include an H in its name !!!

Although NOT specifically intended as a 'Fundraising excercise', some £180,000 has been raised so far for a variety of Local and National good causes.

Our previous websites may be accessed in the menu and they provide a pretty full record of our activities in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

The project is using local Artists and Schools to decorate 80 fibreglass Hens that will be displayed throughout the area from June 'til September 2022.
Following the display period - The HEN Parade - the Hens will be sold off with the proceeds going to a variety of Charities and good causes.

Please keep visiting this site as regular updates will appear throughout the summer.

The aims of this website are

- to Generate Civic Pride

- to promote the Town of Haslemere and surrounding area

- to Create opportunities for businesses and Organisations to raise their profile to generate income for the Mayor's Charities and many others whilst also providing the opportunity for Community Groups to use the project to raise revenue and awareness for themselves.

-to promote the Visual Arts, The Town crest includes the Latin inscription Vita Musis Gratior - Life is better through the Arts.

- to generate Fun & capture the imagination and participation of Businesses, Community Groups, Charities and the Public across all ages

2019 Highest price Hound
This stunning hare was painted by Alexandra Marler.

2018 Highest price Hare
This stunning hare was painted by Pathum Kuruwita Arachchi (landlord of The White Horse) where it was displayed until a generous customer paid £5000 making it the highest ranking in terms of money raised.

2017 Best Hog
Decorated by Haslemere Girl Guiding. This was simply the best on a community level because the guides needed to raise £200 to “Save their Bacon” and did so by commissioning a unique “Lady Bacon Powell” embroidered badge that the girls could purchase and sew onto their blankets as a memento of their involvement in the project.
